FIERY ROCKETS

Hi friends,

We made fun paper rockets, shooting into space with fiery flames trailing behind.

My youngest suggested we make rockets this week so here they are. ( : Customize your rocket and double each piece, for a double-sided rocket. Check it out below.

PREP

  1. Turn your red, and blue/grey paper vertically, then fold each in half. For single-sided rockets cut the paper in half, otherwise leave it as is.

  2. Draw a narrow tip at the top followed by an elongated oval shape and a flat bottom, then cut through both layers.

  3. Trace the rocket onto the other paper if making more than one.

UPPER BAND & ROCKET BOTTOM nozzle

  1. Trace the upper portion of the rocket onto folded paper and cut both pieces out.

  2. Create a similar shape for the bottom and cut two out per rocket.

  3. Draw horizontal stripes on the bands and vertical grey stripes on the nozzles.

WINDOW & FINS

  1. Draw larger circles on the folded grey paper and smaller circles on the white paper before cutting and gluing together.

  2. Take 1/2 of the red paper, fold it into fourths, and draw a large down-turned comma.

  3. Cut out the fin shapes (only 2 per rocket).

FLAME

  1. Cut 1 orange section, 2 yellows, and 2 whites from the tissue paper.

  2. Fold each section in half and draw jagged edges, before cutting them out.

  3. Glue 1-2 white pieces to the 1-2 pieces of yellow tissue paper and then glue each combo to the front and back of the orange piece.

ASSEMBLE

  1. Glue the band near the top of each rocket and the window a bit below that to create identical rockets

  2. Glue the grey nozzle onto each rocket. Then on one rocket add the fins, the flames, and a large craft stick about midway.

  3. Add glue to the inside of the 2nd rocket and press both pieces firmly together.

That’s it!

Happy crafting
