For Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we’re sharing our double-sided paper roll children with MLK Jr. banners displaying some of his famous words.

HEADS & ARMS
Stack your skin-colored papers, trace a paper roll to create the head, then hold the papers firmly as you cut out the heads (4 total).
Repeat the steps to create matching arms/hands(1 per child).
BODY
Cut 4 short pieces of colored paper to cover the rolls, then glue 2 colors together and around each roll, leaving 1 side seam unglued.
Glue the base of 2 arms together, thumbs facing up, and then into the seams of each tube. Repeat with the 2nd tube.
Place the arms in opposite directions and glue the tubes together. Optional: Clip the tubes with paperclip while they dry.
FACES & BANNERS
Fold a strip of white paper, draw a banner shape, and cut both out.
write one of MLK Jr.’s quotes:
“Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that”, “The time is always right to do what is right”, “I have a dream…”, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" or any other one.
Draw hair and faces on each circle and glue them to the front and back of the tubes, corresponding with each arm color.
Fold the arms out and fold the hands forward, then glue the hands around the ends of the banner.
That’s it!
Happy crafting
Amanda and Naomi
