Hi friends,
Have you gotten to enjoy water activities this summer? Water balloons and sprinkler play are pretty standard, but sometimes get overlooked. They’re both fun and offer a nice bit of relief when the temps rise. Today’s craft features a self-portrait and fun sprinklers to play in, including cool blue streams of glittery water! Check out our summer splashin’ craft below.

What You'll Need
White Paper
Colored Pencils
Glue
Glitter
Magazine/Newspaper
The Steps
Turn your paper horizontally and draw the grass. We had an uneven workspace so we used magazines under, you won’t actually need them until much later.
2. Create your self-portrait wearing summer clothes/swimwear. We worked from the bottom up, feet, legs, shorts, etc.
3. Draw your sprinkler and hose- I drew a basic one, Naomi & Matty drew an octopus, and Micah drew a pineapple.
4. Add any other details like the sun, sky, etc.
***Make sure to leave an open area for the wording, it can be written now or later.
SUMMER SPLASHIN’
5. Open your glue bottle slightly and add long streams of glue, either dotting along the away or dragging the streams further out. Add glue dots on the ground and on the self-portrait too. Repeat until you have the desired look.
6. Place your magazine/newspaper under your craft and sprinkle some of the glitter/s over all the glue. Lift your paper carefully and bring the right side up a bit to slide the glitter to the left, repeat with the left side.
7. Carefully tap your paper onto the magazine/newspaper to get the loose glitter off. Use that same glitter and pour it back onto the craft in the specific areas missing glitter. Repeat or add more glitter until all the glue is covered.
8. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes.
That’s it!
Matty’s self-portrait and sprinkler.
Micah’s self-portrait, complete with his shadow, and pineapple sprinkler.
Mom here, doing the best to accept the water on her clothes and face haha.
Naomi being her usual cool self and her super cute octopus sprinkler.
Happy crafting!
Amanda and Naomi
