Hi friends,
Easter is this weekend! We’ll have our annual BBQ and egg hunt in the backyard. Which means that we'll watch excitedly as the kiddos scurry around for the most eggs and the highest points, find the prize egg, and then celebrate with the winner/s, before settling down for some quiet downtime, while the littles nap = ). But what if you could bring another element of fun indoors, and still have a little suspense and surprise in the mix?! That’s what we did with these simple bunnies! The bunnies have an eggy spin and as easy as they are to make, they’ll also provide you with multiple options. We’ll share how we made these and lots of ways to use them, especially if an outdoor hunt isn’t an option. Check out our eggy bunnies below.

What You'll Need
Heavy Weight White Construction Paper
Colored Construction Paper
(6-12) Easter Eggs per bunny
Glue
Pencil
Colored Pencils
Scissors
Cotton Ball
Optional: Small Bowl, Markers, Toothpick
The Steps
Trace the outer half of 1/2 egg, onto your folded, colored paper, and then about 4-6 inches down on both sides.
Cut out your bunny ears.
3. Trace a small bowl near the bottom of the vertical paper(bunny body) in a matching color as your ears or estimate the size of the body by placing 12 egg halves down before drawing.
4. Color in with the color pencil and then buff out with the cotton ball, rotating to get the color onto the ball.
5. Add grass, flowers, and/or insects.
6. Draw a sun, clouds, or birds if you’d like.
7. Glue your ears on or bend back slightly before glueing.
Now, for all the options!
*We used 9 bottom halves and 3 of the top halves. You may use any combo.
OPTION 1:
Empty halves
As a simple activity: place the empty egg halves down and then apply plenty of glue around the edges of the eggs. A toothpick helps spread around when necessary. Add the cotton ball to the bottom, center area of the body, and let dry 30-60 min. Write, “EGGCELLENT EASTER BUNNY”.
OPTION 2:
Fill with Treats, Encouraging Notes/Compliments, Trinkets, or Scavenger Ideas
As a fun gift/activity for a child or a child to make for someone else: place the item down first, cover with egg half, and then apply plenty of glue around the edge of the egg. A toothpick helps spread around when necessary. Add the cotton ball to the bottom, center area of the body, and let dry 30-60 min. Write, “EGGCELLENT EASTER BUNNY SURPRISE!”.
Each egg is pulled off to uncover small treats, notes to enjoy, or fun scavenger ideas to find.
OPTION 3:
Option 1 or 2 + Draw A Face
Place the egg halves down and apply plenty of glue around the edges of the eggs. A toothpick helps spread around when necessary. Glue the bunny tail to the bottom left or right side of the body and draw a face with a sharpie. Write, “EGGCELLENT EASTER BUNNY”.
Each egg is pulled off to uncover small treats, notes to enjoy, or fun scavenger ideas to find.
OPTION 4:
Option 1 or Snacks/Treats + Points
Competitive option game(1 per person): Print out the points or make your own, cut, fold, MIX UP, and place with the chosen item. Cover with egg halves and apply plenty of glue around the edges of the eggs. A toothpick helps spread around when necessary. Add the cotton ball to the bottom, center area of the body, and let dry 30-60 min. Write, “EGGCELLENT EASTER BUNNY SUPRISE!”.
Point suggestion: any EMPTY egg = 20 points.
To play- each egg is pulled off to find points inside or an empty egg, count them and then determine the winner based on the point total.
OPTION 5:
Option 1 + Points #2
Pulling numbers game(1 for multiple players): Place your empty egg halves down then apply plenty of glue around the edges of the eggs. A toothpick helps spread around when necessary. Add the cotton ball to the bottom, center area of the body, and let dry 30-60 min. While that dries, print the points or make your own, cut, fold, place inside a hat/bowl, and MIX UP. As a bonus, make one 20 point paper and throw it into the mix. Write, “EGGCELLENT EASTER BUNNY”.
Use a sharpie to write nine (1’s) and three (2’s) on the eggs, any order is fine.
To play- 1 scratch paper & 1 crayon per person is needed (different colors).
Each player lists numbers 1-12 on their paper. The 1st person takes a turn drawing 1 -2 numbers from the hat, based on the egg they’re starting off with (1 or 2).
The player then writes down their number/s on the paper corresponding to the round, uses their crayon to make a mark on the egg they just used, and then puts the numbers back into the hat for the next player.
Repeat until all players have filled in their 12 spots and a total of 15 numbers chosen by each player. Add up all the points and determine a winner. If there is a tie, have those players repeat the game until a winner is selected.
That’s it friends, lots of fun options for you!
These came out so nicely and pull apart easily too.
Happy crafting and Happy Easter!
