DIY Pac-Man & Game Pellets

Hi friends,

Today we’re going back in time a bit and creating a beloved character! We celebrated a family birthday recently, and Pac-Man was front and center. It was such an easy craft, we had to share it with you. The Pac-Man and pellets displayed have mini stands, but could easily be made to go in a frame or directly to your kiddo’s wall for some fun, retro, decor. Another option would be glueing them to a solid giftbag for some 80’s gifting fun. And what about those cute ghosts Pac-Man avoids? No worries, we’ve got you covered. Next week we’ll share some fun options for those too.

The Steps

Pac-Man

Option 1: Upright Pac-Man

  1. Center your ruler over the plate and mark a vertical, 4inch line with your pencil.

  2. Create a 2nd line, horizontally from the 1st one.

Our plates had ridges/markings on the edge, so we made the 2nd line 9 ridges from the 1st one.

  3. Stack the 2 yellow plates and carefully cut at the same time OR repeat the lines on the 2nd plate and cut out individually.

  4. Flip one Pac-Man over and add hot glue to the raised part of the back.

  5. Carefully place the 2nd Pac-Man over the other one, matching the cut out sections.

6. Test your stone before gluing. Make sure the bottom is flat, will fit snuggly between the 2 plates, and will stand up.

7. Add plenty of hot glue and place your stone there.

8. Stand up your Pac-Man.

Option 2: Framed Pac-Man

  1. Cut off the edge from 1 yellow plate, leaving just the center flat circle.

  2. Repeat steps 1-3 above

  3. Glue or tape to the inside of an 8 x 10 frame.

  4. Display your Pac-Man!

Game Pellets

  1. Cut out the center part of the plate.

  2. Use part of the cut off edge to make the stand.

optional: You can use a stone instead and glue the pellet to it.

  3. Trim the stand down to about 3 inches at the widest part and then round out the side edge.

  4. Prop the stand open to see if it works.

5. Add hot glue to the outer side of the stand and glue to the pellet. Make sure the edges line up.

6. Display your game pellet.

That’s it!

Option 2: Framed Game Pellets

  1. Cut off the edges from 3 white plates.

  2. Glue or tape to the inside of 5 x 7 frames.

  3. Display your game pellets!

For our celebration, we cut out a few single-sided Pac-Mans and placed them around the area with a bunch of single-sided pellets, some ghosts, and the occasional fruit. We then made this double-sided Pac-Man for the table. It was super inexpensive and made the birthday guy really happy. = )

Join us next week for the ghosts and a few other alternatives.

Happy crafting!
