Foil Hearts

Hi friends,

We’re kicking off the new year with easy-to-make foil hearts! Even better, getting to reuse foil tablecloths or mylar balloons, after New Year’s or any other celebration. We used my sister’s birthday decorations because her birthday is the day AFTER CHRISTMAS! Lucky for us, she didn’t mind and we got to have great crafting supplies. Check out our foil hearts below.

What You'll Need

  1. Foil Tablecloth or Recycled Foil Balloon

  2. Large or Small Paper Plates

  3. Pencil

  4. Scissors

  5. Hot Glue

The Steps

  1. Turn 1 of your plates over, draw a heart, and cut it out.

2. Cut your foil tablecloth or foil/mylar balloon into smaller pieces and/or wavy edges.

The underside of the tablecloth was silver.

3. Add hot glue to the front of a plate and start layering randomly or in a pattern, you can pinch/scrunch the pieces as well(shown further below). Repeat with the other plates.

4. When your glue is dry, flip the plates over, and place the previously cut heart on top of each plate for tracing.

5. Trace the hearts and cut them out.

That’s it!

OPTIONS:

Garland: Punch a hole in each heart and feed some string or thin ribbon through.

Plant/Gift Picks: Hot glue a skewer stick to the back.

Huge Necklace: Punch a hole in each heart, feed some string/ribbon through, tie a knot with the ends.

a) This heart has rose gold and silver strips layered.

b) The center heart is divided diagonally with the 2 colors and with small scrunched pieces.

c) Four of these hearts have multiple layers in both colors.

Happy crafting!
