Friends,
The 4th of July is days away! We have a super simple tie-die garland using coffee filters, rubber bands, and food dye, to help you splash some color on your space for the holiday or any other patriotic one. You can take it outdoors too with just one extra step. Because it’s 2021, we decided to make 21 tie-dye rounds but you can use as many as you’d like. The individual rounds also work great as festive wraps around your napkins and tableware! Check out our unique garland below.

What You'll Need
(21) Coffee Filters
Red Food Dye + (1/4 - 1/2 C) Water
Blue Food Dye + (1/4 - 1/2 C)Water
Rubber Bands
Plastic Plate/Mat
(21) Small Paperclips
Twine/String
Scissors
Optional: Newspaper, Hot Glue
The Steps
Fold each filter the same or with varying folds and wrap with 1-2 rubber bands.
2. Use a spoon to pour small amounts of *dye onto the filters or put dye onto the mat and dip the edges.
3. Repeat with all the wrapped filters and let dry for 15 minutes.
*You can use just one color per filter or both but try to leave white spots as well.
4. Once they’re dry or just about dry, remove the rubber bands.
Aren’t they pretty?! = )
Upper left- reds
Upper right- blues
Lower left- both
Lower right-
5. Cut about 6 feet of twine/string.
6. Arrange your rounds or place in random order and then clip to the string with a paperclip.
7. To hang outside we recommend adding a bit of hot glue around the base of the clip to keep it in place and help the rounds from flying off.
That’s it!
These came out so cute and easily slide across the string for your spacing preference.
Have fun decorating and celebrating.
Happy crafting and Happy 4TH!
