Hi friends,
Labor Day is next week! For most, this means a day off, a chance to relax, hang-out, complete a project, or catch the Labor Day sales. = ) We’re hoping to relax a bit too and grill something, while our older kids, work on their ever-growing list of homework assignments. My poor kiddos are working long and hard, but can’t seem to catch a break. So, I gave Naomi a pass this weekend(maybe the next few) and had the littles join me for some spud star stamping! I prepped everything and then called them out individually. They had lots of fun pressing the potato into the paint and designing their page. The fact that we used potatoes as stamps really amazed them! Check out our spuddy stars below!

What You'll Need
Potatoes
Construction Paper (dk. blue, lt. blue, white)
Paper Plates
Craft Paint (white, silver, red, turquoise & blue)
Pencil
Marker (black, red, or blue)
Table Cover/Newspaper
Wipes/Wash Rag
The Steps
Start with your 1st paper and lightly write out HAPPY LABOR DAY in pencil.
When you’re satisfied with the lettering, place the 2nd paper underneath and trace the 1st one a second time with pressure. Set the 1st page aside.
Your 2nd sheet will now have the imprints- Place your 3rd sheet under the 2nd one and trace the markings on your 2nd page with a pencil, applying pressure again. Set your 2nd page aside.
Your last sheet will now have the markings and will need to be filled in with a pencil.
5. Use your marker to trace the wording. Using the edge of the tip will give you a wider letter.
Adult Job
6. If you haven’t already, slice your potatoes in half or smaller sizes for little hands.
7. Carefully create stars or starburst by slicing down 1/2 inch into the potato and in the angle you prefer ( /\ ,\| , /| ) then across/under ( ___ )the areas you’d like to remove.
You’ll end up with unique stars and starbursts!
8. Spread out your table covering over your workspace.
9. Squirt your paints onto the paper plates and press your stamps into them.
10. Now stamp your pages.
Matthias loved stamping!
The wipes came in handy for any paint mess on the hands and to switch colors on the stamps.
Micah’s stamping : ) and mine. It turns out my stars looked a lot like starfish = ))
Let dry for 10 min and that’s it!
Micah’s paper.
