Confetti Curtain

Hi friends,

We’re still in celebratory mode over here and can’t wait for All About Hope’s, “Day Of Celebration”, on August 18, 2020. Throughout the day we’ll be sharing photos, videos, and messages to mark this amazing milestone, right from our Facebook page.

With that in mind, we decided to showcase the Confetti Curtain mentioned in our last post AND use it in our very own message to AAH’s faithful friends and supporters. It’s so fun to look at, I think we’ll leave it up for a while lol. Now, these aren’t really confetti pieces but they represent them so well and on a larger scale. We’ll show you how to make this inexpensive, super-easy, colorful, and vibrant display for your party, photo backdrop, or kiddo’s room decor. We’ll offer suggestions to customize this even more too. Check it out below and tune in on Tuesday!

What You'll Need

  1. Colorful Party Plates

  2. Hole Punch

  3. Scissors

  4. String

    Optional: Small Paper Clips

The Steps

To create a similar curtain, use 9 colors x 7 rows (7 plates of each color)= 63 party plates.

  1. Punch a hole on top and another hole directly across.

  2. Repeat with all the plates.

  3. While you’re punching holes, a helper could cut 56, 3-inch strings/ribbons.

    (7 rows x 8 connectors)

SKIP #3 if you plan to use paper clips, instead open them up(56) so there is 1 hook on each end, loop through 2 plates, pinch to close a bit or the plates will slip out. We found that this wasn’t as secure as the string and made it a bit harder to transfer. BUT you can loop a long string through all the top plates(7), hang them and then easily clip more plates as needed.

4. Feed the string through the holes, either from the front or back (depending on whether you’d like the string to be visible), flip over if necessary, and tie tight.

We chose the front so that we didn’t see the string ends.

5. Continue adding plates and making new rows until you have 7 complete rows.

We chose 1 of each color for each row but made sure to mix them up each time.

6. If you haven’t already, cut 7 strings (in your desired/necessary length) to loop through the top plate and provide a loop for hanging.

We cut large strings so we could tie around the top post of our outdoor photo booth.

That’s it!

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE:

a) Add more/fewer rows for width, add more/fewer plates for length.

b) Choose 1 color, multiple, or holiday themed.

c) Place your plates in identical positions/patterns for each row.

d) Use themed/patterned plates or a mixture of the two.

The wind was blowing so the plates were never facing the same direction at the same time.

We used rocks to hold the bottom of each row down but the wind was too strong.

Pastels would be great for a baby shower or a little girls’ room, metallic plates for an older birthday, shimmer plates for an underwater/mermaid theme, etc.

Happy crafting!
