Hi friends!
Valentine’s is just a few weeks away, so we’re getting a head start. Last year about this time, Naomi and I were still in the planning stages of crafting for the blog. We didn’t know when we’d officially start, but it happened to be mid-February. Well, we missed Valentine’s day altogether and kicked off the blog with a fun president’s day craft. We’re excitedly approaching our 1 year mark(can you believe it?) and for the first time here, get to craft for Valentine’s Day! Today we’re starting off with a cute heart garland, as a way of representing hearts being connected to others. Check it out below.

The Steps
DIY watercolors
If you’d like to protect your space, cover the area with newspaper or a table cover. If not, the wipes and rags help with spills or color changes.
In a very small cup add about 2 TBSP of water and 2-3 small squirts of craft paint.
Mix the paint thoroughly with a baby spoon or the end of the paintbrush.
Continue will all the colors desired.
We have LOTS of medicine cups, we keep them for crafts or toddler playtime :)
4. Make any design or use multiple colors, however you’d like.
-Naomi started with red and pinks for her 1st paper and the pinks and purples for the 2nd one.
If you see that your colors are too transparent, feel free to add another squirt or 2.
-I created an ombre effect with red and 2 different pinks. I then splattered some of the paint onto the whole page.
-For my 2nd page, I chose to make outlined hearts and lots of polka dots.
5. Let them dry for 3-5 mins and add more paint or move on to the next steps.
6. Turn the the paper however you’d like and fold in half. We chose to face it horizontally and then fold in half.
7. Fold once again. We folded it the long way to create a narrow strip.
8. *Fold a 3rd time to create a small square/rectangle.
9. Repeat the exact same way with your 2nd sheet.
This will provide you with 32 hearts total (front & back)
* You can opt to have larger hearts by folding less times.
10. Choose your heart shape, short and wide by turning paper horizontally or tall and narrow by turning vertically.
11. Draw your heart on 1 sheet & cut out, then use 1 heart as a guide on your 2nd paper. Cut out as well.
I chose short and wide while Naomi chose the tall one. Unfortunately she drew a too small heart which made it a little harder to cut.
Naomi’s hearts and mine :)
12. Cut 5-6 ft. of twine/string and fold in half.
13. Working with the middle area first—1/2 in -1 in from the center, glue a top & bottom heart (choosing 2 opposite colors or 2 of the same in a pattern) to the string.
14. Then glue another 2 hearts 3-4 inches from the end. This will be your guide as you space out the other hearts.
We both chose to use the opposite colors/patterns on top and bottom.
Let dry for 10 min and then hang up, that’s it!
Happy crafting!
Amanda and Naomi
