Hi Friends,
Fall has been “in session” for about a month and has two more. Though October is winding down, it just means we’re that much closer to “fall back” time! If you don’t know what that is, here is some info; not everyone gets to experience it or appreciates it. Now if you were to visit most stores, that's probably where we'd be similar- you'd see a grand variety of mini candies, chocolate for me please; and lots of creepy costumes & decor(some starting in July). And driving down the streets you’d probably see much of the same on homes, lawns or in trees; some less offensive to my scaredy-cat self lol, while others screamed fall 100%! Since I prefer decor that is friendly over freaky and believe most littles do too, we turned Dollar Tree pumpkins into cute spiders!
EEK, are you scared? Don’t be, these are harmless!

Black Pipe Cleaners (4 per)
Googly Eyes (2-8 per)
Cheesecloth or White Thread
E6000 Glue or Equivalent
Scissors
optional: Newspaper/Table Cover to Protect Work Space, Wipes/Wet Rag, Plastic Plate
The Steps
Place your table cover down.
Squirt your paint directly onto the pumpkin or onto a plastic plate.
Paint the pumpkin with the stem on.
*Use stem to help you turn the pumpkin as needed.
4. Paint the top and middle sections.
5. Carefully flip over and lay on the stem, you can touch up any areas later.
*let dry 10- 15min.
6. Flip over when almost/completely dry.
7. Remove the stem(a toothpick is attached to it) & set aside.
8. Paint where the stem was and let dry completely.
1. Fold 4 pipe cleaners in half and cut.
2. Use the stem to poke a hole and wiggle around to widen it. Continue 7 more times.
3. Poke the pipe cleaners into each hole and bend down.
Choose your eyes, add glue and attach to your pumpkin.
**Naomi had the genius idea of using the stem to create fangs. It was too realistic for me so I passed lol.**
Optional
Place the stem up.
Carefully slice into the stem at an angle from the right toward the center and the left side toward the center, with the scissor blade or a knife.
Remove the center portion.
Paint the fangs and then glue on.
Cut a small piece of cheesecloth and pull off strings.
Wind the strings around the ends of the legs to represent their webs.
White thread: If using thread, wind around the ends and then trim.
Naomi chose to drape a few strings over the legs instead.
That’s it!
Aren’t they cute!?
I’m not a fan of spiders but these are definitely cute!
Happy crafting!
Amanda and Naomi
