Summer Sunset: reflection

Hi friends,

We’re sharing our fiery summer sunset, against a dark sky, and the beautiful reflection on cool blue water.

As our summer break ends, we’re “setting” our summertime to rest and welcoming the new school year and fall season. With this craft you’ll get to blend colors for a unique sunset and reflection, then attach the sun to a purple, pink, orange, or dark blue sky. All the details for the summer sunset: reflection are below.

What You'll Need

  1. Construction Paper: (2)White, (1)Light Blue, (1)Purple, Pink, Orange or Dark Blue

  2. Bowl

  3. Pencil

  4. Black Pen

  5. Craft Paints & Brushes

  6. Glue

  7. Scissors

The Steps

PREP

  1. Center your bowl on the white paper and trace it in pencil, repeat on the second white paper.

  2. Depending on your colors, squirt the lightest color on top and darker colors further down.

  3. Make sure you have a brush for each color and spread the paint across the sun with the corresponding brushes. Repeat with the second sun and let both dry slightly for 5 -10 minutes.

GLUE (leaves a glossy finish}

  1. Add a generous amount of glue on both suns and use the corresponding paintbrush to spread the glue over each color(optional). Let them dry completely.

  2. Cut both suns from the white paper.

ASSEMBLE

  1. Fold a bit of the darker section under and add glue to the back.

  2. Glue the flat end of one sun near the edge of the light blue paper (water) and the other one on the purple, pink, orange, or dark blue paper(sky).

  3. Write Summer Sunset over the sky, flip the water upside down and overlap it slightly onto the sky, then glue them together.

    That’s it!
