Layered Christmas Trees

Hi friends,

We’re bringing you layered, frilly, Christmas trees in pink, off-white, and green. These trees can be made in various colors, decorated with glitter, confetti, or markers, and glued to cardboard tubes for upright trees. These can be used as a cute table setting or right on your mantle, and the kids can decorate their own with small add- ons. Check out the layered Christmas trees below.

What You'll Need

  1. (2) Craft/Construction Papers per tree

  2. (1) Brown Construction Paper

  3. (1) Yellow Construction Paper

  4. Empty TP Roll

  5. Pencil

  6. Scissors

  7. Glue Stick

    Optional: Colored Pencils, Markers, glitter

The Steps

TREE

  1. Stack two sheets of construction paper together and fold them into fourths.

  2. On the top layer draw a wide triangle.

3. Cut through all the layers, creating 8 wide triangles and 16 narrow ones(reserve the narrow ones if you’d like to make narrow trees, shown further down).

4. Before separating the layers, cut thin 1-inch strips on the bottom edge, in straight or curved lines.

5. Ruffle up the fringe to separate and create dimension.

6. Separate the layers and alternate the colors.

7. Slightly stagger the trees as you glue them down, leaving the bottom edges unglued.

Repeat the steps with each tree.

STAR

  1. Cut a 1-inch strip of yellow paper.

  2. Fold the strip a few times and draw a star with the pencil.

  3. Cut out the stars and add them to your trees.

  4. Optional: decorate your trees with markers, crayons, glitter, etc, as shown( narrow & wide trees in 2 greens).

TRUNK

  1. Fold your brown paper into fourths and cut.

  2. With your brown markers make bark markings on the outer edges and bottom of the quarter sheet.

  3. Add glue to the back of the brown sheet and glue around the paper roll. Make sure to tuck in the top and bottom edges as well.

4. Add glue to the unmarked part of the tube and glue to the back of the Christmas trees.

That’s it!

These are simple and understated but can easily be jazzed up with decorations.

Happy crafting!
