Hi friends,
Today we have a fun and easy gift idea, just in time for Christmas. Your kiddos can help make festive necklaces for themselves or the holiday guests with beads and colorful straws! They can also make others with special colored or textured beads, perfect any time of the year. We share a few ways to make and tie them so the length becomes adjustable. Check out our festive necklaces below.

What You'll Need
Yarn
Colorful/Textured Beads
Plastic Straws
Scissors
The Steps
We found wide colorful straws at the 99 Cents Only Stores, but you may use regular-sized ones.
Cut your straws to your desired length.
Cut your yarn:
- 2.5 ft long for a shorter necklace with an easy tied end (make sure it would be enough to go over the child or adult’s head, after being tied).
- 3 to 3.5 ft long for a yarn wrapped necklace and/or for an adjustable end.
SIMPLE/SHORTER NECKLACE: Feed the beads and straws onto the yarn in random order or in a pattern, until 1 ft of yarn is filled, then double knot the ends.
Wrapped necklace further down.
ADJUSTABLE NECKLACE: Feed the beads and straws onto the yarn in random order or in a pattern, until 1 ft of yarn is filled. Then,
a) Loop one end and double knot it, leaving space within the loop. b) Feed the other end through the 1st loop. c) Double know the 2nd end to itself, creating a 2nd loop. d) Hold one knot and pull the upper part of the loop to shorten that side(loop will grow but the necklace length will shorten), repeat on the other knot to shorten that side as well.
YARN WRAPPED NECKLACE: (perfect for the larger straws that tend to slide over the small beads)
a) Place your desired straw on the yarn, somewhat centering it, and then looping the end through it again. b) Feed 1 bead or multiple, on both sides of the straw. c) Continue with the next straw on each side and loop again a 2nd time. Repeat until you have 1 to 1.5 feet of yarn is covered. d) Follow the steps above for the simple tie or adjustable end necklace.
That’s it!
Happy crafting!
